Why this day matters
Some of the strongest people in our community spent their lives showing up for others.
Our veterans served. Our retirees contributed. Their families stood beside them. Too often, once the uniform comes off or the career winds down, the phone rings a little less.
PayN 4Ward exists so that doesn't happen. Led by a disabled veteran and grounded in faith, we bring people together through connection, encouragement and experiences that remind them they are not forgotten, like our accessible veteran fishing workshop with the Everglades Institute.
That care extends to the next generation. PayN 4Ward supports His House Children's Home in Miami Gardens through free fishing workshops, supplying all fishing gear and covering tables and chairs. Welcoming activities give young people facing difficult circumstances space to explore, connect and simply be kids.
Our broader community work also includes a separate celebration supported with American Legion Post 144 in Miami Lakes alongside the town's park festivities. These are distinct activities, united by a commitment to showing up for others.
